Call for Papers

The journal publishes original articles in the field of Artificial Intelligence that satisfy its Editorial Charter. In particular, the following categories of papers are welcome:

Technical and survey papers should be up to 30 pages long (unless exceptional cirumstances warrant a longer version). Technical papers report high quality research across the breadth of AI topics. The journal aims to referee technical and survey papers within two months of submission.

Research notes should be up to 7 pages long in the double column AI Communications format. They report short, self contained technical results. The journal aims to referee research notes within one month of submission.

PhD thesis summaries should be up to 2 pages long. PhD summaries should describe what have been the significant contributions of the thesis, with the suitable references to major conferences or journals where these results have been published. Only summaries of PhD thesis with clear significant contributions will be accepted. The PhD thesis are expected to be available on the WWW and the link has to be on the summary.

Submission of papers

Submission of a work is understood to imply that the work is original and unpublished and is not being considered for publication elsewhere. If the address to which proofs should be sent is different from the correspondence address, authors are kindly requested to indicate this. The Editor-in-Chief should be informed of any changes in either or both of these addresses. Please also supply a direct telephone number, fax number and email address if available.

Electronic submission is welcome and encouraged as it will speed up the refereeing and production process.

Manuscripts should be submitted in postscript or pdf format in uncompressed form. They have to be sent by email to an area chair in case it falls in the corresponding area, cc-ing aicom@star.dist.unige.it. In the case of a conflict of interest or if the paper does not fit in any area, papers should be submitted to the Editor in Chief by email to aicom@star.dist.unige.it.

Each new submission should be accompanied by a filled submission form, available here. In the case the paper is submitted to the Editor in Chief, authors are also asked to suggest an appropriate member of the Editorial Board for handling the refereeing process. Authors are also asked to suggest up to 3 suitable reviewers for their paper. However, the Editor-in-Chief/Area-Chair, may decide to assign the paper to a different Editor/different Reviewers. The postscript file of the paper may be appended or attached to the electronic submission letter.

If the paper is a resubmission of a paper which has already been reviewed once and not rejected, authors are also asked to send an accompanying letter explaining how the reviewers' comments have been taken into account. It is expected that resubmissions will be sent within 6 months from the notification of the results. Rejected works cannot be resubmitted.

The submission of a paper is normally acknowledge within a week, by the the person to whom the paper was submitted (the Area Chair or Editor in Chief). In case you do not receive any acknowledge in two weeks, you should check about the correct reception of your paper. In all the correspondences between you and the Area Chair, always cc aicom@star.dist.unige.it.

In case no electronic submission is possible, paper manuscripts (3 copies) may be submitted to:
